Wanted: One campaign manager for two presidential campaigns (Swift and Mesplay), preferably with campaign managing experience at some level.
Salary: DoF- dependent on funding , we want to pay a living wage
The preferred campaign manager would have the audacity to believe that relatively unheard of candidates can act to positively transform society in a short period of time.
The objective is to increase campaign visibility and outreach into specific demographics in order to grow and further organize the Green Party.
The term of service would be less than four months (think "100 days to transform the country") in the first phase, prior to the nominating convention July 10th-13th in Chicago.
Lessons learned and grass-roots structures developed would be transformed into providing support and coordination for the Green Party nominee who will advance to the General Election following the July nominating convention.
Should one of the two candidates who you are supporting receive the nomination the position would be lengthened an additional four months - second phase.
Understand that these are "real" presidential campaigns, with the goal of receiving the most votes and delegates in order to win the nomination, although obviously not "at all cost" since we believe in synergizing our campaigns for the good of all.
This is a voluntary position, initially. It would be up to you to fund-raise in order to create paid positions with yours being first funded.
Other positions to be developed include that of: administrator, primary volunteer coordinator, treasurers, speech writers, researchers, legal personnel and other support staff as can be developed.
A capacity for dealing with myriad rules, regulations, state bodies and agendas is essential.
The preferred manager would also recognize the opportunity for creative expression and would be enthusiastic about working with actors, musicians, street performers, celebrities and others in order to maximize exposure and appeal. Both campaigns have such people as can be brought "on board" upon rather short notice, given effective managing.
One of the first tasks of the campaign manager would be to approve a budget (of, say, $200,000) and develop the scheduling and campaign coordination necessary to bring in the funds over a three-month period, concurrent with growing the campaign in terms of scheduled campaign appearances.
Please note that both candidates work full-time, so emphasis would have to be placed on weekend events. One of us would be available for full-time campaigning once the revenue stream replacing otherwise lost income becomes available.
Alternative campaigns and candidacies are unlike "traditional" campaigns in both our positive outlook and in the "political bigotry" leveled against challenges to the corporate "status quo" in terms of omission from polls and debates, blame for poor past performance on the part of the corporate players and a lack of public understanding of the value of an open society, free speech and actual, participatory democracy. In part, such campaigns are educational and seek to improve the very structures within which they are forced to work.
Also, funds need to be raised in order to facilitate candidate delegates being able to travel to the convention site.
Given the restrictions against multi-party ballot access, it is necessary to appreciate and use alternative methods to obtain ballot access: such as by staging a nationally coordinated campaign of having citizens e-mail and mail the Secretaries of State requesting and demanding nation-wide ballot access for the Green Party and perhaps for the Libertarian Party, as well (as a partial, principled "counter-balance").
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. We look forward to your application and interview!
